Generations of Exceptional
Craftsmanship

Winters Woodworks has been a cornerstone of craftsmanship, passed down through generations. In the 1960s Ronald Winters relocated his family from New Zealand to Canada, where he continued the family tradition of working with wood.

Ronald's son, Lawrence proudly carried on the legacy and in 1991 he branded the company as "Winters Woodworks." Under Lawrence's stewardship, the company flourished, maintaining a reputation for excellence and dedication to the craft.

Today, the tradition lives on with Dean Winters at the helm. Dean's journey into the world of woodworking began in his youth when he assisted his father in the workshop, learning the intricacies of the trade. His passion for woodworking led him to pursue further experience, and in 2003, he ventured to Canmore, where he worked for a distinguished carpentry outfit. It was there that Dean honed his skills in cabinetry and finishing work, becoming a master of his craft.

In 2007, Dean returned to the family business, joining forces with Lawrence. For the next decade, father and son worked side by side, crafting custom cabinetry and executing fine finishing with meticulous attention to detail. Their collaboration not only strengthened the legacy of Winters Woodworks but also elevated its reputation as a provider of unparalleled craftsmanship.

Today, Winters Woodworks continues to thrive under Dean's ownership and operation. With a legacy spanning decades and a commitment to quality ingrained in its DNA, Winters Woodworks remains dedicated to creating woodwork that stand the test of time.

In 2019, a new chapter began for Winters Woodworks as Dean took up the banner of his family's legacy. With Lawrence's retirement, Dean stepped into the role with a deep sense of reverence for the craft and a commitment to upholding the reputation of Winters Woodworks.

Dean's journey into woodworking began with a foundation in art and design. Following his passion, he pursued studies in graphic design and illustration at the Alberta College of Art & Design. Dean's artistic talents have since become an integral part of Winters Woodworks, influencing the design and craftsmanship that define the company's legacy.

Beyond his dedication to woodworking, Dean is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Natalie, have shared twenty years of marriage and have three teenage children - a son and two daughters. Together, they have created a bustling household that extends beyond woodworking to include their very own "funny" farm.

Nestled on the same property where Dean's parents reside, the Winters family has built their home, creating a unique space where Dean both lives and works. Surrounded by the serene beauty of their property, Dean finds inspiration in the rhythms of nature as he crafts exquisite pieces of woodwork.

In addition to his woodworking pursuits, Dean and his family lead a lively life filled with the joyful chaos of farm animals. Cows, horses, sheep, chickens, and a menagerie of pets, including cats and an enthusiastic dog, are all part of the daily tapestry of their lives.

For Dean, Winters Woodworks isn’t just a business; it's a continuation of a family legacy rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of wood. With each kitchen he creates, Dean honours the traditions of the past while infusing them with his own unique artistic vision, ensuring that the legacy of Winters Woodworks endures for generations to come.
